ARTIC
spun - the net as a metaphor

Presentation of the magazine project and its latest edition at the Kuenstlerhaus

17 February - 1 April, 2012

cover design ARTIC editions #1 - #12

Unconventional as usual is ARTIC’s approach towards next edition’s topic “Net”. The literature project looks into the substance of this term. Is it its knottings or its holes, to be or not to be, the I or the O?
For the Künstlerhaus, ARTIC’s editors developed a concept which transfers the magazines principles – the combination of various disciplines and approaches - into the third dimension. In the first chapter of the exhibition, artists’ ideas on the topic are presented with a focus on drawings. Telephone stations offer audio digests of the literary, lyrical or essayistic articles in the current issue.
In the second chapter, visitors are introduced into the project ARTIC: from the finding of the topic over the editors’ and graphic designers’ work to the finishing of the magazine which is connected with lots of handicraft. The visitors are invited to get active themselves by producing their own ARTIC and/or contributing ideas for next edition’s topic.
