Application Summer Residency

Since 2005, Künstlerhaus Dortmund has been offering an artist residency in the summer months for artists from abroad in all fields of the visual arts.

Period:         
4-6 weeks from mid-July (by arrangement).

Free accommodation:   
Combined living/bedroom, shared kitchen, shower and WC on the floor.

Free working space: own studio

Costs covered by the Künstlerhaus:    

  • Travel allowance of up to 500 EUR
  • Subsidy for living costs of 10 EUR per day in Dortmund
  • Production costs subsidy of up to 500 EUR (only after consultation and submission of invoice)

The artist is responsible for his/her own health insurance.

A presentation at the end of the residency will be supported. The Künstlerhaus will take care of the press and publicity work as well as the invitation cards. The Künstlerhaus will support the guest artist in all organisational and practical matters.

Next application period for the summer residency in 2025:
1 - 31 October 2024

Applications are open to foreign artists residing abroad in all fields of the visual arts without age restriction. However, students at German and foreign universities are excluded. The applications received will be juried by a commission of members.

Please summarise your application in a single PDF (max. 10 MB) and send a download link (wetransfer, etc.) to: summerresidency@kh-do.de
Please do not send any e-mail attachments.

The application must contain the following information:

  • Name, gender, date of birth, nationality, address, telephone number, e-mail, home address, current place of residence (if different from home address), website
  • Project proposal or motivation for the application (max. 1 page)
  • Curriculum vitae (max. 2 pages)
  • 5 - 10 images of work from the past 3 years
  • Description of work (max. 1 page)
  • optional links to videos, sound samples, etc.

You will receive a confirmation of receipt of your application by e-mail.
You will be informed about the selection by e-mail by 31 January at the latest.
