Landsacpe as a field of work for artists, as a projection space for longings, as an apparent victim of natural faults or crafty interventions – mediated by the aritsic disciplines of painting, photography, sculpture and video. The show presents landscapes and what humans do within, with and despite it; in a range from (un)sentimental observation to deconstruction and an ironic take on the genre.
Elisa Andessner works within different artistic fields such as photography, graphics, video art and performance. In her work she tries to question and distort reality to foster different perspectives onto it. The basis and point of origin is her own body which dominates the visual language as a performative element.
The Künstlerhaus will present a photo series which shows the artist performing in different scenic scenarios which put her in slightly absurd juxtapositions with a melancholic-humoristic keynote created by gravitational correlations and figurative irritations of adaption.
The images were shot on site by self-timer.

In Hönig's works alienation, straightening, ornamental props are incorporated in an over-obvious manner, either by computer generation or added as an analogue sculptural supplement of the pictoral scene to avoid any kind of sublimity in the eye of the viewer.
Landsacpe as an over-staged, clownesque satire; over-saturated by its immanent exaltation, degenerating – exemplarily – towards its own grotesque

Balz Isler draws a scenic contour – for instance a mountain ridge – on a paper strip, stamps out holes along the contour and clamps the strip into a mini roller organ and plays it. A "soundscape" is created, a "singing image of a landscape".
The Künstlerhaus will show related video footage as well as an exhibit with sample templates including the roller organ. Furthermore, Balz Isler will be giving a performative talk on the exhibition theme at the opening.

By means of emphasizing the basic pictoral compositional elements of the vertical (woods) and the horizontal (water) the wall objects "Woods" and "Water" represent a highly abstracting, laconically humorous view onto human perception reflexes of landscapes.

The work "Sin King" shows a discarded BMW re-purposed to become a buoy which in this function got an exclusive temporary "parking spot" in Lake Lucerne. The breathtaking scenery in the background and the lonely former vehicle and status symbol as a mark create a tension-filled, surreal contrast.
At the Künstlerhaus the converted original car will be presented as part of the accompanying photo documentation.

The often large-format and pastose oil paintings by Thomas Prautsch show both quiet moments of every-day banality as well as excerpts of dramatic sublimity.

What if there was a high mountain range behind the congested urban Ruhr area? Benjamin Vogel invents mountain sceneries by conductiong cartography backwards: To fix his scenic ideas he draws accurate fictional topographic maps. These top-shots serve as a basis to draw - and usually subsequently paint - mathematically constructed views. With this concept he combines his special interests for landscape painting, mapping, cartography, geometry and geography.
In his concept "Märkische Berge" Benjamin Vogel re-designs the region Märkischer Kreis. A limestone mountain range with a height of up to 3084 metres is created. By doing so he follows the temptation of getting involved with his home region by re-designing, re-structuring and re-discovering it.
